In an interesting turn of events, the Pakistan cricket team could witness yet another decision that might not come out as a satisfactory one for many.

Amid continuous horrible performances on the field and speculated happenings behind the scenes, Babar Azam may be sacked yet again as their white-ball captain as per a report in Cricket Pakistan.

The report further added that PCB might appoint Mohammad Rizwan as their new captain across all formats.

Soon after Pakistan's embarrassing 0-2 Test series defeat against Bangladesh at home, the criticism has been widespread as Babar hasn't pleased with his efforts with the bat.

Pakistan cricket team has been going through a rough patch for the last few months.

They have had horrible outings at the big tournaments like the ODI World Cup 2023 and the 2024 T20 World Cup as well.

Since then, there have been too many changes at the top with Babar being removed as captain only to be reinstated a few weeks later as white-ball skipper.

Pakistan's defeat against Bangladesh in the second Test was their 10th winless home Test in a row.

"It's a huge setback and our cricket is at a crossroads," former Pakistan captain and legendary fast bowler Wasim Akram recently said.

"For a former player and captain, and a lover of the game, I was left embarrassed at the way they have lost from good positions. I simply don't get it.

"We are losing consistently on home turf and that says a lot about the quality of our cricket," added Akram, who played 104 Tests and 356 one-day internationals for Pakistan.

Pakistan also have a disappointing record in Tests at home in the past three years with six defeats and four draws, including England's first-ever 3-0 series sweep there in 2022.

Interestingly, England are Pakistan's next visitors and will play three Tests beginning in Multan on October 7.

Former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif earlier bashed the PCB for interfering too much on the cricketing part of the side and the steps like removing Babar from captaincy only played a role in dividing the dressing room.

Notably, during Zaka Ashraf's sting as PCB chairman, Babar was removed from the captaincy with Shaheen Afridi becoming the team's T20I and ODI skipper.

The decision not only surprised many but also created a speculated rift within the dressing room between the players.
