BAN vs PAK: Bangladesh's interim government rewarded their men's cricket team for BDT 3.2 crore on Saturday for their first-ever Test series win against Pakistan. The Bangla Tigers, who had never defeated Pakistan in the longest format, created an upset by whitewashing the two-match Test series.

Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan, who is the Advisor for the Ministry of Youth and Sports, gave the award to the Najmul Hossain Shanto-led side, who hammered Pakistan in both matches at Rawalpindi.

"Bangladesh cricket team has been awarded BDT 3.20 crore for their historic Test series win against Pakistan. BCB Chairman Faruque Ahmed accepted the bonus from Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan, Advisor for the Ministry of Youth and Sports. A portion will be donated to help flood victims," the BCB wrote on their official X account.

The Bangla Tigers created history in Rawalpindi as they thrashed Pakistan by six wickets in the second match and then won their maiden Test series earlier this month. The Shan Masood-led posted a meager target of 185 runs during the fourth innings and the Bangla Tigers chased it down quite comprehensively as they were already high on confidence after defeating them in the series opener.

Zakir Hasan (40), Najmul Hossain Shanto (38), and Mominul Haque (34) made significant contributions with the bat and helped the team win the first Test series in Pakistan. They had won this series after losing six consecutive six Test matches. Nobody expected that the second match would produce any result as the first day was washed out due to incessant rain. But it once again became a nail-biting thrilling Test match for the next four days.

Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto is hopeful that they can repeat their heroics in the upcoming series as well.

"One word: belief. It feels great when you are winning. It is important to enjoy these moments. I think such a moment has never come in the Bangladesh team's history. Cricketers look for references. Now we have one. We know that we can win abroad," Shanto was quoted saying to ESPNCricinfo.

Bangladesh will lock horns with India for a two-match Test series, which will begin next week in Chennai.
