IND vs BAN: Star India batter Virat Kohli looked at his absolute best in the practice session in Chennai before the first match against Bangladesh. India will lock horns with Bangladesh for a two-match Test series, which will begin next week in Chennai. The Men in Blue began their practice session in Chennai a week earlier to adjust to the weather and pitch conditions.

The BCCI took to their official X account and shared a video of the Rohit Sharma-led side's first practice session on Saturday. Kohli was looking in sublime form whereas Ravindra Jadeja, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and KL Rahul too had a great practice session.

Watch the video here:

Kohli had pulled out from India's last five-match Test series against England, which was held earlier this year. In his absence, the team picked up multiple players to play as middle-order batters and thus helped the team defeat England 4-1. Kohli was in sublime form in the longest format before he took the personal break. He had smashed a hundred in South Africa on tricky pitches.

India vs Bangladesh, 1st Test

The BCCI revealed the team for the series opener last week, where Rishabh Pant made a comeback to Test cricket. Pant, who last represented India in this format in December 2022, came to Test cricket on the back of his performances in Duleep Trophy 2024. He played for India B, which had beaten India A last week.

It should be noted here that Pant last played a Test match against the same opponent as he was part of the squad which had gone to Mirpur and then he was involved in a fatal car accident later that month. Pant and Dhruv Jurel, who were brilliant with their wicket-keeping skills in the Duleep Trophy, are the designated wicket-keepers in the team. KL Rahul would be playing just as a pure batter in the match.

Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, R Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja are all part of the team, who didn't feature in any Duleep Trophy match. Yash Dayal too received his maiden call-up for the series opener and Shreyas Iyer is one of the notable omissions.

India's squad for the 1st Test against Bangladesh: Rohit Sharma (C), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Sarfaraz Khan, Rishabh Pant (WK), Dhruv Jurel (WK), R Ashwin, R Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Akash Deep, Jasprit Bumrah, Yash Dayal.
