BAN vs PAK: Bangladesh has scripted history, defeating Pakistan 2-0 in the Test series, resulting in a huge change in the ICC WTC rankings, as they have jumped to the fifth position. As a result, the Indian team has slipped to sixth place. Post winning the second Test in Sylhet by 78 runs after winning the series opener in Mirpur, Bangladesh's point percentage (PCT) is now at 58.33% after playing in four Test matches and has surpassed India's 48.15% PCT in the points table.

Although the reigning champions, Australia, lead the table with 87.50% PCT, New Zealand and South Africa are closely behind in second and third place. The Men in Green's struggles in Test cricket drove them further down the rankings. After falling to Bangladesh, they plunged to eighth position with an 8.33% PCT, hovering just above the last-placed West Indies.

Speaking of the Test match, Taijul Islam destroyed the visitors' lineup by snatching six wickets and propelled his team to bowl them out for 358 runs, clinching victory by 78 runs and capturing the series 2-0.

The star spinner seized two of three wickets on the last day, striking with match-winning figures of 6/120 after bowling 34.2 overs, and powered the host team to topple the visitors for 316 runs on the fourth day.

The Shan Masood-led side tallied 42 runs during the final session of the fifth day, then collapsed, losing three wickets off 13 balls as the hosts grabbed victory. They had dominated the series opener by winning with a 104-run margin.

Bangladesh's victory radiated pride, marking their second consecutive series win against the Shan Masood-led team and affirming their dominance after the emphatic 2-0 sweep in 2024.4. The triumph stirred deep celebration.

Mohammed Rizwan’s dismissal after hammering a knock of 166 runs extinguished their hopes of chasing a mammoth 437-run target.

Rizwan (94) smashed Nahid Rana (2/71) for back-to-back fours in the third over, galvanizing Pakistan for a brief resurgence. Sajid Khan attacked aggressively to pressure the bowlers.

But Taijul’s record-breaking performance, where he removed Sajid after scoring 28 runs, shattered their 54-run partnership as he achieved his 18th five-for in Test cricket.

In the next over, Rizwan crashed the ball toward the gully. Taijul then removed Khurram Shahzad for a duck, sealing the win for his team against Pakistan.
