Per Scorchers pacer Jhye Richardson has been ruled out of the remaining part of the Big Bash League (BBL) after suffering an injury in the last match against Brisbane Heat. The speedster sustained a left side strain after pulling up sore following the match against Heat at the Gabba on Wednesday. The injury puts his participation in doubt for the upcoming home ODIs against West Indies.
"Richo will miss the remainder of #BBL13 after pulling up sore following Wednesday night with scans revealing a left side strain. Wishing you a speedy recovery Jhye," Scorchers wrote on X.

In the ongoing BBL season, Richardson has not been at his best as he only bagged six wickets in eight matches of the tournament with an economy rate of 9.18.
Richardson has dealt with a lot of injuries throughout his career and is still unable to throw effectively in the outfield due to shoulder dislocations that needed surgery. he was bought by Delhi Capitals in last month's IPL auction ahead of the upcoming season.

Perth Scorchers are currently in contention for the second-place finish in the points table with five wins in eight games. With 11 points, Scorchers sit at second spot and will take on table toppers Brisbane Heat and third-placed Sydney Sixers in the last two league matches respectively.
Richardson has played 15 ODIs for Australia after making his debut against England in 2018. He picked 27 wickets at an economy of 5.87 including 4/26 in the 50-over format. The pacer also has 19 T20I wickets to his name in 18 matches.
Australia are scheduled to play three ODIs against West Indies, starting in Melbourne on February 2. Richardson was named in Australia's ODI squad for the first time since 2022 earlier this week.
