Asia Cup Squad 2025: Star Indian players Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and Sai Sudharsan are all in contention to be selected for India's Asia Cup team, which will be announced later this month. Jaiswal and India's Test skipper Shubman Gill haven't played in the shortest format due to a hectic schedule, but since they would be getting a one-month rest after the five-match Test series against England, they would be available for selection in the continental tournament.

According to the BCCI sources, the selectors have kept options open since the Men in Blue would be playing a home Test series against West Indies, which would begin within a week's time if they qualify for the summit clash of the Asia Cup, which would be held next month.

The series opener of the Test series against the West Indies would be held in Ahmedabad on October 2. It should be noted here that Jaiwal scored 559 runs at a staggering strike rate of 160 during IPL 2024, whereas Gill had scored 650 runs after playing in 15 matches at a brilliant strike rate of more than 155.

Gill's fellow Gujarat Titan teammate Sai Sudharsan, who was adjudged the Orange Cap winner this year, had scored 759 runs at a staggering strike rate of 156.

"There is a five-week break, and with no cricket around, these three should walk into any T20 squad despite a stupendous show by Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma. In 21 days in the Asia Cup, if one plays till the final, there are 6 T20 games, and that's not much of a workload. But obviously with 17-member squads allowed for the Asia Cup, selectors will weigh options carefully," a BCCI source was quoted as saying to PTI.

Considering the pitches in the UAE and with the T20 World Cup also coming up in six months, Jaiswal, Gill, and Sudharsan should ideally form the top three batting lineup.

Sudharsan, who made his debut in the 50-over format way back in 2023, has been in sublime form in the shortest format. Another headache that the team selectors would face is the availability of star fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj.

Both of them have been managed carefully by the team management owing to excessive workload in all formats, and they are supposed to undergo fitness tests before the selectors.
