Asia Cup Trophy Controversy: It has been more than a month since India won the Asia Cup 2025 title, but they haven't received the trophy despite their victory over Pakistan in the final of the tournament in the UAE on September 28. The post-match presentation witnessed massive controversy as India avoided taking the trophy from the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
As India continue to wait for the trophy, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia came up with a fresh update on the matter, saying that the board will raise the issue in the next ICC meeting.
"We have approached ACC (Asian Cricket Council) and we have sent a letter 10 days ago. There is no positive response. We are maintaining the same stand. So, we are going to raise the issue in the ICC meeting starting on the 4th of November in Dubai," BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said.

Saikia made it clear that the trophy will reach India as soon as possible, and only the date has to be finalised for the handover. "The trophy will come, and that is for certain, because India has won it. Only the timeline has to be fixed. If we had to take it from him (Mohsin Naqvi), then we would have taken it on that day of the final. Our stand is very clear that we are not accepting it from him. So, there is no change in the BCCI's stand. We are not accepting the trophy from the ACC Chairman, who is the Interior Minister of Pakistan. Therefore, it has to come but not from his hands," he added.

Notably, Naqvi took the trophy with him after India's denial. The whole move took place amid the handshake controversy that took place in the middle of the tournament. Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav refused to shake hands with the Pakistani players after their win over the arch-rivals.
The next two matches between the two teams witnessed a few controversial instances, but those matches were also won by India. Since the conclusion of the tournament, the trophy has remained in Pakistan's custody
