India vs Australia: Indian cricket team landed in Australia to square off against hosts in the five-match Test Border Gavaskar Trophy series against the Pat Cummins-led side. With an aim to start their campaign on a high note, Team India have started its preparation for the upcoming high-voltage Test series at the Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA) Stadium in Perth.
Ahead of the series, Indian players will participate in multiple practice sessions at WACA Stadium. On Tuesday, India began its preparation for the marquee series with the stadium reportedly covered to prevent public viewing.
Interestingly, there are several pictures making rounds on the internet, in which nets can be seen being covered from public view. India also opted for a similar approach in 2022 as well ahead of the T20 World Cup.
Meanwhile, a report in The West Australian stated that WACA stadium is under lockdown. It was wrapped with nets, thus blocking public viewing, and weighty rules have been imposed on staff.
Notably, WACA will not host any upcoming five-Test match series matches. The first Test between India and Australia will take place at the Optus Stadium in Perth.
Virat Kohli was the first Indian player to arrive in Australia for the BGT series while the remainder of the squad reached on Monday. However, there is still suspense on captain Rohit Sharma's availability for the first Test.
In case Rohit missed the Perth Test vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah will step up to lead India in the opener against Australia.
After the first Test, India will travel to Canberra for a pink ball match against Prime Minister's XI, starting on November 30. From December 6 to 10 the visitors will face Pat Cummins-led side in the day-night Test at Adelaide Oval. Last time when India played a last pink ball in Australia they could only muster to score 36 runs in the second inning.
