After not getting retained by Lucknow Super Giants ahead of the upcoming IPL 2025 mega auction, star wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul is seeking to make his place back in India’s T20I squad.
Rahul, who last donned the Indian jersey in a T20I match on November 10, 2022, against England in Adelaide, exudes confidence in his abilities and has a clear understanding of his current standing and the specific areas he needs to improve to reclaim his spot in India's T20I team.
Rahul is aiming to make India T20I comeback with a big show in the 2025 edition of IPL.
“I’ve been out of the T20 team for a while, and I know where I stand as a player and what I need to do to get back. So, I look forward to this IPL season to give me that platform to go back and enjoy my cricket, and my aim is to obviously get back into the T20 team," he said in a video shared by Star Sports.
KL Rahul boasts an impressive T20I record, standing among an elite group of four Indian batters with multiple centuries in the format. With 2265 runs accumulated in 72 matches, he occupies the fourth spot in the list of top run-scorers for India, the 2024 T20 World Cup champions, solidifying his position as one of the country's most prolific T20I batsmen.
Earlier, Rahul opened up on leaving LSG ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction and said he want to find some freedom, where the team atmosphere could be something lighter.
"I wanted to start fresh. I wanted to explore my options and I wanted to go and play where I could find some freedom, where the team atmosphere could be something lighter. Sometimes you need to move away and find something good for yourself," said Rahul in a promo video posted by Star Sports on their ‘X' account.
