An under-19 cricket coach had been brutally attacked in a Cricket Association of Puducherry (CAP) ground by three local players, who thought that he was the reason behind them not getting selected for the ongoing domestic tournament. Police have begun searching for these three players as a case has been filed for attempted murder. As per the police, the coach Venkataraman was assaulted on Monday when he was overseeing a training session. The investigators have revealed the names of all the accused players, Karthikayan, Arvindraj, and Santosh Kumaran, who had asked the coach about their non-selection. And then suddenly, the three players began attacking with a bat, and due to this, the coach was severely injured.

A senior police officer told NDTV that the attack was "premeditated and extremely violent. We are on the lookout for all three".

Coach Venkataraman has sustained a shoulder and a rib fracture along with a severe bruise on his forehead, owing to which he had to undergo 20 sutures. He is currently receiving the treatment.

The police have filed an attempt to murder case. And as per the police, the CCTVs of the venue are not working properly.

This unfortunate incident has left the cricketing circle stunned, with a lot of officials emphasising the increasing pressure and indiscipline among youngsters. CAP sources have revealed that they will cooperate with the police and will take internal action after the police are done with their investigation.

This violent attack within a top-notch cricket facility has led to issues about player management, safety at training centers, and how stressful state-level selections are. The Puducherry Police have revealed that their priority is to arrest the attackers and make sure that they are held responsible for such a violent act.
