Australia's star opener David Warner shocked everyone as he decided to bat right-handed during the second ODI match against India at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore on Sunday.
India posted a mammoth total of 399/5 in their 50 overs on the back of batting masterclass from Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer with the duo smashing respective centuries.
In the 13th over of Australia’s run-chase, Warner tried to counter Ravichandran Ashwin by batting right-handed. After picking up a single in the very first ball, he smashed the off-spinner for a boundary towards backward square leg.

Notably, Ashwin has a remarkable record against left-handed batters across formats, having dismissed them on numerous occasions.
However, Warner has been seen scoring runs and smashing boundaries with reverse sweeps for fun over the years during his long career and has a good command of the special shot.
He also has hit Ashwin for boundaries many times with the switch hit but this time he decided to turn completely a right-handed batter.
Warner was looking good and was scoring runs at ease. But just when it seemed that he was finding it easier to tackle Ashwin by being a right-hander, he gave away his wicket.
In the first ball of the 15th over, Warner went for a reverse sweep and ended up missing the ball completely, losing his footing as well.
Ashwin along with other fielder appealed for an LBW and the on-field umpire gave Warner out. The batter after having a chat with Josh Inglis at the non-striker's end decided to head back to the pavilion.

Warner had edged the ball with the bottom part of his bat as he was dismissed for 53 runs off 39 balls featuring seven fours and one six.
Ashwin looked lethal on the day with effective assistance from the surface as he removed Inglis in the same over to go past Anil Kumble’s record of most wickets by an Indian bowler against Australia across formats.

The veteran spinner made his comeback in the ODI format after a long while as he was included in the three-match series against the Aussies with the Men in Blue preparing for the upcoming ODI World Cup at home.
Ashwin could find a place in the World Cup squad which can be updated till September 28 as the star all-rounder Axar Patel still continues to recover from his injury.
