Rohan Jaitley, the current president of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) is in line to succeed Jay Shah as the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

As per reports, Jaitley could take over the all-important role within the BCCI if current secretary Jay Shah becomes the new ICC chairman.

Shah has come out as a leading name in the past few days after current ICC chairman Greg Barclay decided not to contest for a third term.

Shah reportedly has the support of 16 out of 15 members of the ICC board and therefore, the election process to elect the next chairman seems like a mere formality.

As per various reports, there might be quite a few contenders for the secretary job if BCCI decides to look over other options.

Names of Rajeev Shukla, Ashish Shelar, Arun Dhumal and Rohan Jaitley are the potential candidates to take over from Shah.

However, it is still not clear whether Shah will become the next ICC chairman as he hasn't filed his nomination yet.

Notably, Shah is one of the most influential figures in ICC's boardroom and even is a member of the governing body's Finance and Commercial Affairs (F&CA) sub-committee.

Shah could become the youngest head of the ICC at 35 and also the fifth Indian to serve the ICC at the highest level after the Late Jagmohan Dalmiya, Sharad Pawar, N Srinivasan and Shashank Manohar.

The deadline to file a nomination for ICC chairman’s post is August 27.

There’s a possibility that the BCCI might reshuffle roles with the current vice-president Shukla being considered for the secretary position for a year.

Shukla would likely welcome this shift as the vice-president role often holds limited influence.
