Duleep Trophy 2024: The third day of the round two Duleep Trophy 2024 matches between India A and D, India B and C ended on Saturday. Batters Pratham Singh and Tilak Varma grabbed the headlines for India A by scoring centuries each. At the same time, India C bowler Anshul Kamboj starred with the ball as he took his maiden five-for. India B's skipper helped the team bounce back by scoring an unbeaten knock of 143 runs off 262 balls on the third day.
India A began the day at 115/1 after Shreyas Iyer dismissed skipper Mayank Agarwal at stumps on the second day. But Pratham Singh and Tilak Varma helped the team bounce back by stitching a partnership of 104 runs for the third wicket. Pratham, who dismissed Shubman Gill, took advantage of the chance he got by scoring his maiden century in the ongoing domestic tournament. Spinner Saurabh Kumar took his wicket after he scored 122 runs off 189 balls. The young Tilak then built a partnership of 45 runs with Riyan Parag. After extending the lead, at one point it looked like Mayank was hoping that Tilak would declare the innings.

Tilak's 5th first-class hundred
Tilak smashed an unbeaten knock of 111 runs and thus brought up his fifth first-class century. Shaswat Rawat too scored a gritty knock of 64 runs. India A posted a mammoth target of 448 runs after they declared their innings at 383/3. While chasing India D suffered a huge blow as opener Atharva Taide was dismissed for a duck in the fourth innings. Abhimanyu leads India B's fightback
India B also tried to fight back on the third day while chasing a mammoth target of 525 runs on a flat pitch. Anshul Kamboj gave India C the much-needed start by breaking the opening partnership of 129 runs between Narayan Jagadeesan and Abhimanyu Easwaran. Jagadeesan missed out on a well-deserved century by 30 runs in his debut tournament. Anshul took the first five wickets and rattled the opponent's batting lineup. Star batters like Rinku Singh, Musheer Khan, Sarfaraz Khan, and Nitish Kumar Reddy failed to fire as India B went from 129/0 to 195/5.
Although they suffered a batting collapse skipper Abhimanyu Easwaran held the innings from one end as he scored a gritty knock by the time of stumps. Washington Sundar and Sai Kishore too made significant contributions with the bat. India B was 309/7 on the third day at the stumps.
