Duleep Trophy 2024: India C skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was forced to retire hurt while playing just the second ball of the round 2 clash of the ongoing domestic tournament. India C is playing against India B on the first day of the 2024 Duleep Trophy clash in Anantapur on Thursday. India B won the toss and chose to field first. The India C skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad played just two balls and smashed a four on the first ball itself. But on the next delivery, he was retired hurt as he had twisted his ankle.

This is a big blow to his team India C, who had won the tournament opener against India D and got six points. But Sai Sudharsan helped the team bounce back by scoring a gritty knock of 43 runs off 75 balls and Rajat Patidar too made a significant contribution by scoring 40 runs off 67 balls. They stitched a stable partnership of 92 runs for the second wicket off 140 balls. They gave the team a great start but were dismissed in quick succession as Ishan Kishan and Baba Indrajith tried to stabilize the innings.
