Duleep Trophy 2024: India D's star batter Yash Dubey was dismissed most bizarrely on the fourth day of the second round Duleep Trophy clash in Anantapur on Sunday. It should be noted here that while chasing a mammoth target of 488 runs during the fourth innings, Dubey and Ricky Bhui helped India D bounce back by stitching a 100-run partnership after Atharva Taide was dismissed for a duck.
Both the batters were looking in good touch and were trying to stabilize their respective knocks. But their partnership was broken due to a bizarre run-out. In the morning session of the fourth day, Ricky Bhui stepped out of the crease and smashed Shams Mulani down the ground to take a single.
Dubey, who was at the non-striker's end didn't lift his bat at the right time and let the ball go through as it went towards the stumps towards the non-striker's end. Since Dubey was out of the crease, Mulani quickly removed the bails and dismissed him. Due to this he was short of his crease and got out after scoring 37 runs off 97 balls.

After Dubey's wicket, Mulani also took the wicket of Devdutt Padikkal by bowling a peachy delivery. He bowled a ball which went outside off-stump and forced Padikkal to play the cover drive. But he couldn't get the ball on the bat and was bowled out.
Mulani also dismissed Shreyas Iyer, who made the mistake of playing on his backfoot despite the pitch producing variable bounce. He scored 41 runs off 55 balls and left his team reeling at 158/4 after he was dismissed. The team suffered a top-order batting collapse but Sanju Samson and Ricky Bhui helped the team bounce back by taking the scorecard to 190/4.
Pratham Singh (122) and Tilak Varma (111) had smashed brilliant centuries each and helped India A take a huge lead of 487 runs during the second innings. During the first innings, Mulani also scored a gritty knock of 89 runs for India A and helped them post a target of 290 runs. India D's Devdutt Padikkal was the standout batter as he scored a gritty knock of 92 runs during the first innings and helped his team post a target of 183 runs.
