India vs England Test Series: After a fabulous performance in the all-important Test series in England, team India opted for quiet downtime before leaving for home on Tuesday morning.

Head coach Gautam Gambhir touched down in Delhi and was quick to mention his take after the five-match Test series ended in a draw. He talked about the team's effort in the fifth and final Test as Mohammed Siraj stepped up to help the team register a thrilling 6-run win at the Kennington Oval.

Siraj produced a match-winning effort of nine wickets in the decisive Test, including a five-wicket haul in the second innings, as India scripted history on the final day of the series. "I think he's been brilliant. In fact, not only he, but the entire team has performed brilliantly. It is very difficult for me to mention one name, but these guys have, be it Shubman, be it Siraj, be it everyone... I think the boys have been brilliant throughout the last two months," Gambhir lauded Siraj, who was the leading wicket-taker in the series with 23 scalps to his name.

This England tour was most important for Gambhir and the test side amid a challenging transition phase, considering the rising criticism after the back-to-back series defeats against New Zealand and Australia.

Post the retirements of veterans like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin, Shubman Gill was named as the new Test skipper and the young batter led from the front. Gill had a blast in England and smashed 754 runs at an average of 75.40 on the back of four incredible centuries.

"I think he's done a fabulous job. That's all I can say, and he'll keep doing good for Indian cricket," Gambhir heaped massive praise on the skipper Gill.

A remarkable team effort was witnessed throughout the series, with several characters stepping up on different occasions. India managed to take out a positive result despite the senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah playing just three matches. India registered famous wins at Edgbaston and the Kennington Oval, whereas Manchester Test ended in a jaw-dropping draw.
