England vs India Test Series: Jasprit Bumrah came up with his first reaction after India's remarkable performance in the fifth and final Test at the Kennington Oval on Monday. India produced a memorable effort on the final day and registered a thrilling 6-run victory.
The five-match Test series ended in a 2-2 draw, with India's wins coming at Edgbaston and the Oval. The result is taken out as a positive one for the visitors, considering the challenging transition phase the India Test team is going through at the moment, following the retirements of veterans like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin.

While the young Shubman Gill was named the new captain of the Test side ahead of the all-important England tour, more responsibility was on Bumrah's shoulders, being a senior and impactful player in the side. However, he played just three matches in the series due to workload management, but took 14 wickets at an average of 26.
"We take back great memories from a highly competitive and enthralling test series! Looking forward to what’s next," Bumrah shared on Instagram.

Having already played his three matches at Headingley, Lord's and Manchester, there were speculations that Bumrah might push his limits and play the decisive final Test as well. However, in light of the risks mentioned by the BCCI medical team, Bumrah was benched for the Oval Test. He was released from the squad as well and couldn't join his teammates in the celebration after a famous win at the Oval.
In Bumrah's absence, Mohammed Siraj stepped up, receiving significant support from Prasidh Krishna, to deliver a fighting performance on the final day of the tour. Having bowled the most overs, Siraj took the most wickets (23) in the series as well, and ended up receiving massive praise for his passion and never-say-die attitude. He remained the only player to play all five matches of the series.
While there has already been so much talk and writing about Bumrah's unavailability and injury issues lately, the senior pacer is expected to be available for the Asia Cup T20 in the UAE from September 9 to 28.
"Look, if Bumrah plays in the Asia Cup and if India go the distance till September 28, he won’t obviously play the West Indies Test series starting October 2. However, if there are no injuries, he will certainly play the two Tests against World champions South Africa in November," a senior BCCI official was quoted by PTI as saying.
