Champions Trophy 2025: Team India's head coach Gautam Gambhir disagreed on two decisions about selecting the team for Champions Trophy 2025 as per Dainik Jagran. The report revealed that there were differences of opinion which led to the meeting getting extended between Gambhir, Indian captain Rohit Sharma, and the chief of selector Ajit Agarkar, and that is why the team announcement got delayed. As per the report, Gambhir was in favor of choosing Hardik Pandya to be India's vice-captain but both Rohit and Agarkar backed Shubman Gill. The other disagreement was Gambhir wanted Sanju Samson as the wicket-keeper but Rishabh Pant was preferred over him, thanks to Rohit and Agarkar's backing.
At the same time, Ajit Agarkar revealed that Jasprit Bumrah won't regain full fitness ahead of the first two ODIs against England, and that is why Harshit Rana received his maiden ODI call-up as they are still awaiting an update from NCA's medical team about Bumrah's fitness.
The star pacer is a part of India's Champions Trophy squad, which will be held after the ODI series against England.

"Bumrah has been told to off-load for five weeks after and he won't be available for the first two ODIs against England. We are waiting on his fitness and will know his status in early February from the medical team," Agarkar told reporters in the press conference.
Bumrah had sustained a back spasm during the recently concluded five-match Test series against Australia in the fifth and the last Test match and for that he underwent scans.
"We'll probably hear more over the next week or so about his fitness. It would have been nicer if BCCI had (given the update)... I might say the wrong thing here. I know he was asked to offload for five weeks of bowling, which is the early first week of February if I'm not wrong," he added.
"We'll probably find out a bit more around that time. What exactly (it is) and with regards to what his medical condition is, I'm sure BCCI might just put something out from the physio itself” he further said. After the third Test match at the Gabba, captain Rohit was asked questions regarding Mohammed Shami's fitness since he was undergoing rehab at the NCA at that time and then Agarkar also made the same statement.
"It should come from the medical department than me trying to explain what exactly is wrong with him (Bumrah), but that's the time frame that we've been told and hopefully, he's okay after that. We are very hopeful,” he concluded.
The last of submit the Champions Trophy squad to the ICC is February 11.
The Men in Blue would be playing a three-match ODI series against England, which would be held next month ahead of the 2025 Champions Trophy.
