Australian Open 2025: Aryna Sabalenka continued her dream run at the ongoing Grand Slam as she qualified for the quarterfinals after defeating Mirra Andreeva. Sabalanka defeated Andreeva in straight sets dominatingly and by 6-1, 6-2, and has qualified for the third consecutive quarterfinal this year. She has extended her winning streak by 18 matches and that's why she is one of the favorites to win the hat trick of titles.

Andreeva did beat Sabalanka during the French Open quarterfinals and created a huge upset but failed to repeat her heroics this time. BBelarushad set the foundation during the first game and didn't let the youngster get going. Although Andreeva did win the next game with the help of her serve and that was her best performance during the first set. Sabalanka then broke Andreeva twice and was leading by 5-1 and won the first set in 24 minutes.

Andreeva had made 18 unforeseeable errors in the game and it did bother her. The second set began just like the first one as both the players won with the help of their serve and then Sabalanka's serve during the third game.

Andreeva did put up a fight during the fifth game as she had won five consecutive points and gave Sabalenka a hard time, who tried to avoid a break during the next set. But her efforts were in vain as Sabalenka won the game in one hour and two minutes and qualified for the finals.

Super happy

Sabalenka admitted that she was ecstatic to have won in straight sets against Andreeva.

"Always tough matches against Andreeva, she's so young but playing such great tennis. I'm super happy to get through this difficult match in straight sets" she told broadcasters in the post-match presentation.

Sabalenka will either lock horns with Donna Vekic or Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova during the quarterfinals.
