GT vs PBKS, IPL 2025: Priyansh Arya, the batting prodigy, missed his fifty by a mere three runs at his highly-anticipated Indian Premier League (IPL) debut for the Punjab Kings against the Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad. Despite missing the mark, Arya made an everlasting image with a remarkable performance in his very first innings.

Opening the innings for Punjab Arya took charge of the powerplay, launching an all-out attack on the Gujarat seamers and a dropped catch gave the sensational batter a second chance early in his innings, and he made the most of it, racing to a blistering 42 off just 20 balls, smashing six fours and two sixes in the first six overs.

His fireworks in Ahmedabad came to an end when he was cleverly bamboozled by a googly from GT's star spinner Rashid Khan shortly after the Powerplay.

Arya's stocks rocketed up at the IPL Mega Auction 2025 last November, in Jeddah, where he was among the breakout stars.

Starting at a base price of Rs 30 lakh, Arya scaled the heights of Rs 3.8 crore as the Punjab decided to buy him outbidding serious competition like Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The 23-year-old left-hander had a spectacular campaign at the Delhi Premier League in September 2024, securing the top spot with over 600 runs in only 10 games.

In Delhi's Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy campaign opener on November 23, Arya made a stunning impact, blasting a breathtaking 102 off 43 balls against Uttar Pradesh at the Wankhede Stadium.

Hailing from Ashok Vihar, New Delhi, Priyanshthe Arya is a fortunate lad with a family that has inspired him all through, the major influence being, of course, his parents: two teachers.

They encouraged him to pursue his love for cricket but insisted on the importance of maintaining good grades.

“He was seven when he said, he wants to play cricket. I was fine with that but since I am a school teacher and my wife (Radha Bala Arya) is also a school teacher, we made sure that he gets good education,” Priyansh’s father, Pawan Arya, told the Indian Express.
