IND vs SL: Ex-India cricketer Harbhajan Singh couldn't wrap his head around the omission of certain players like Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma and Yuzvendra Chahal from India's ODI squad against Sri Lanka. The white-ball series is all set to begin from 27th July, where the Men in Blue will play a three-match T20I series and as many ODIs against the Island nation. This series would be Gautam Gambhir's first assignment as team India's new head coach.

The Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee dropped batters like Abhishek Sharma (T20Is) and Sanju Samson (ODIs) and both of them had scored hundreds in these formats when they last played for India and this decision surprised everyone including Harbhajan Singh. Abhishek Sharma smashed his maiden T20I century in the recently concluded five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe whereas Samson had smashed a century in the 50-over format when he last played for India against South Africa.

Harbhajan also took the name of Yuzvendra Chahal, who wasn't the part of any team for this series. Chahal was the part of the 2024 T20 World Cup winning team but didn't get a chance to feature in any match.

"Hard to understand why Yuzvendra Chahal, Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma are not a part of the Indian team for Sri Lanka," Harbhajan Singh took to his official X account after India's squad for this series was announced.

The selectors made some surprising decisions while announcing the squads for this series. Suryakumar Yadav was named as the T20I captain instead of Hardik Pandya, who was the vice0-captain of the T20 World Cup winning team. Shubman Gill has been promoted as the vice-captain for both the teams of this series.

Rohit Sharma (C), Shubman Gill (VC), Virat Kohli, KL Rahul (WK), Rishabh Pant (WK), Shreyas Iyer, Shivam Dube, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Washington Sundar, Arshdeep Singh, Riyan Parag, Axar Patel, Khaleel Ahmed, Harshit Rana.

India's T20I squad for Sri Lanka:
