India captain Harmanpreet Kaur is likely to be penalised four demerit points for her actions on the field and later at the post-match presentation after the third and final ODI ended in a tie in Dhaka on Saturday.

The official statement from the International Cricket Council (ICC) is still awaited but Harmanpreet remains in danger of becoming the first woman cricketer to be found guilty of a Level 2 breach of the ICC code of conduct, which deals with player behavior.

The Indian captain, after being given out by the on-field umpire, burst into anger and smashed the stumps with her bat and appeared to gesture her disappointment towards the umpire.

After the match, she made sensational comments on the umpiring in the series between India and Bangladesh, calling the standard of umpiring "pathetic".

The final decision will be taken by the ICC. It is understood that the BCCI has been talking to the ICC on the matter.

As per the ICC's rules, when a player reaches four or more demerit points within a 24-month period, it turns into suspension points. Anything in the range of four to seven demerit points equates to two suspension points that lead to the ban from one Test or two ODIs or two T20Is, whatever comes first in the player's schedule.

Harmanpreet is likely to face suspension during the home series of three ODIs and three T20Is against South Africa in September-October this year.

She was also accused of making some remarks that prompted the home team skipper Nigar Sultana to back out in the midst of the official photo session.

"I think a lot of learning for us from the game. Even apart from the cricket, the kind of umpiring that was happening we were very surprised. The next time we come to Bangladesh we will make sure we have to deal with this type of umpiring and prepare ourselves accordingly," Harmanpreet had said at the post-match presentation.

"Some pathetic umpiring was done we are really disappointed about some decisions," she added.
