IND vs AUS 3rd Test: Considered one of the country's best spinners in the longest format, R Ashwin stunned the cricketing world after announcing their retirement from international cricket on Wednesday. Ever since the veteran made this shocking revelation, the Indian cricket fraternity took to their official X account shared heartfelt posts, and thanked the legendary Indian cricketer for his contributions.

He is currently one of the best spinners in the longest format. After playing in 106 Test matches, he took 537 wickets at a brilliant economy rate of 2.83. He also made significant contributions with the bat as he had smashed six centuries and 14 fifties. But due to age and inconsistent performances, the veteran spinner called it quits on a brilliant international career.

The third Test match between India and Australia, which was held at the Gabba in Brisbane, ended in a tie and then Ashwin along with Indian skipper Rohit Sharma attended the post-match press conference to officially announce his retirement news. And as soon as the news became official, the Indian cricket fraternity started paying tributes to him.

At the same time, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma reckoned during the post-match press conference that Ashwin won't be staying with the team in the ongoing series anymore. He would be flying back to India on Thursday and the squad will only be left with two spinners- Washington Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja.

The five-match Test series is currently poised at 1-1 after the Rohit Sharma-led side bounced back brilliantly during the third Test match, which was held at the Gabba and ended in a tie. Australia did post a mammoth target of 275 runs but rain played the spoilsport and the match was abandoned during the last session of the fifth day.
