IND vs AUS 3rd Test: "This will be my last day as an international cricketer....it is an emotional moment and I won't be taking any questions". India's veteran spinner R Ashwin made a shocking revelation as he announced his retirement from international cricket.

He along with his Indian skipper and fellow teammate Rohit Sharma broke this news during the post-match press conference and the duo got emotional for a few minutes while sitting together. Ashwin left the post-match press conference after announcing his retirement and also shared a warm hug with Rohit and received huge applause while leaving.

The veteran spinner and the team man that he is didn't want to grab the limelight, especially after the way the visitors forced the match for a tie from a precarious situation and didn't want to wait for a day to make this decision. His fellow U-17 teammate got emotional since the "last bunch of the OGs" won't be sharing the dressing room again.

"I had a lot of fun with this team. Would like to thank the BCCI, the players, and the coaches I played with. Rohit, Virat, Cheteshwar, and Ajinkya... they took those catches. We were the last bunch of OGs in that dressing" Ashwin told reporters in the post-match press conference.

Although Rohit didn't reveal much as to why did Ashwin take this decision the skipper did say that Ashwin did tell him as to what was going through his mind after he landed in Perth. He also convinced him to play in the 2nd Test match in Adelaide.

"I heard about Ashwin's retirement when I came to Perth. He understands what the team is thinking, and the combinations team is thinking. I convinced him to stay for the pink-ball Test", Rohit told reporters in the post-match press conference.

The Indian skipper also reckoned that Ashwin wouldn't be staying back with the team anymore and would be flying back to India on Thursday. He was also asked as to whether there would be any more surprises from the visitors in this ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, to this Rohit said, "Abhi toh aisa kuch bhi nahi hai".

Rohit is always at his humourous best while attending press conferences but things were different on Wednesday. He was bidding farewell to his fellow teammate and the image of an emotional hug between these two is going to live forever in the heads of Indian cricket fans.
