Updated 2023-25 World Test Championship Points Table: The Men in Blue lost their points percentage (PCT) in the updated WTC points table since the third Test match against Australia in the ongoing series ended in a draw. They did score 114 points but their PCT went from 57.29 to 55.88 and it was just their second match from the current cycle which ended in a tie.

On the other hand, Australia's PCT went from 60.71 to 58.88. The Pat Cummins-led side is lying in the second position and is just behind South Africa, whose PCT is 63.33, and just have to win one match to qualify for the 2025 WTC final, which will be held at Lord's.

The Rohit Sharma-led side can't lose any other match and can only afford one more draw from their last two Test matches to keep their WTC final hopes alive. At the same time, the hosts still have four matches remaining from the current cycle, as they would be facing Sri Lanka for a two-match Test series from next month.

India's WTC final scenarios

If the Rohit Sharma-led side does win their last two Test matches, then they will end up with 138 points and a PCT of 60.52, and thus Australia will be eliminated from the race to the WTC summit clash.

But if they win just one match and the other one ends in a tie, then they will end up with 130 points and a PCT of 57.01. The hosts will then be able to qualify for the WTC final if they defeat Sri Lanka by 2-0.

If the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy ends in a 2-2 tie, then India would end up with 126 points and a PCT of 55.26. In such a situation, the Pat Cummins-led side will pip the Men in Blue by winning at least one match against Sri Lanka.
