Highest Run Chases In IPL: PBKS Tops With Historic 264 Chase; Check Full Updated List

Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab Kings (PBKS) maintained their unbeaten streak in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 and this time the last edition's finalists created history by completing the highest successful run chase not just in the IPL, but in all of T20 cricket. They beat Delhi Capitals (DC) by six wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium after chasing down a massive target of 264.

This win also saw Punjab Kings break their own record. Back in 2024, they had chased 261 against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), which was the highest at the time. Now, they’ve gone one step further.

The Shreyas Iyer-led side started the chase going all guns blazing as openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh came out with clear intent and attacked from the first over. Their aggressive approach helped Punjab race past 100 runs in the PowerPlay, putting Delhi under massive pressure.

However, hosts DC tried to pull things back by picking up wickets in quick succession and with 73 runs needed from the final six overs, the match was still hanging in the balance. But captain Shreyas Iyer stayed calm and led from the front, guiding the Punjab-based franchise to a six-wicket win. Punjab Kings eventually reached the target with seven balls to spare, sealing a memorable victory.

DC vs PBKS match report

Chasing a huge target of 265, PBKS got off to a flying start. Openers Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya went after the bowling from the very beginning and never let Delhi settle. The pair added 126 runs in just 6.5 overs, with both batters playing fearless cricket. By the end of the PowerPlay, Punjab had already raced to 105 without loss, putting the chase firmly in their control.

Prabhsimran was the more aggressive of the two, smashing 76 off just 26 balls, while Arya supported him brilliantly with 43 off 17 deliveries. Their explosive start completely shifted the pressure onto Delhi Capitals.

Punjab did lose a few quick wickets in the middle overs, which gave Delhi a brief opening. But skipper Shreyas Iyer stood firm when it mattered most. He batted with patience early on, then slowly took charge of the chase. Despite a couple of chances going his way, he made full use of the breaks and guided his team calmly.

Iyer finished unbeaten on 71 off 36 balls, hitting cleanly under pressure and ensuring there were no late scares. Punjab Kings reached the target with seven balls remaining, keeping their unbeaten run in the season alive with six wins from seven matches and one washout.

Earlier in the match, Delhi Capitals had posted a massive 264 for 2 after choosing to bat first. KL Rahul played a stunning innings, scoring an unbeaten 152 off 67 balls, the highest score by an Indian in IPL history and the third-highest overall in the tournament. Nitish Rana also played a strong knock of 91, and together they powered DC to one of the biggest totals ever seen in the league.
