IND vs ENG 4th Test: India's star all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy was on Sunday ruled out of the ongoing Test series against England. As per ESPNCricinfo, the youngster had sustained a knee injury when he was in the gym, and the scans showed that he has damaged his ligament.
Reddy getting injured is a huge blow for the Shubman Gill-led side, who are aiming to win a Test series against England for the first time in 18 years. They are already grappling with injuries to players like Akash Deep, Arshdeep Singh, and Rishabh Pant. Although both Akash Deep and Arshdeep would be missing the fourth Test match, which would be held at Old Trafford next week, there are doubts about Pant playing as a wicketkeeper in the match.
In Reddy's absence, who had scored 43 runs and had taken three wickets during the third Test match, another all-rounder, Shardul Thakur, would be replacing him in India's playing XI for the fourth Test match. Shardul, who has taken 33 wickets after playing in 12 Test matches till now, was preferred over Nitish during the first Test match in Leeds, and he couldn't do much with either the bat or the ball.

Reddy’s record in Tests
Nitish made his debut in the longest format against Australia in November last year and impressed everyone with his batting prowess. He had scored a gritty knock of 41 runs during the first innings at Optus Stadium and then scored an unbeaten knock of 38 runs during the second innings. During his debut Test match, he also dismissed Mitchell Marsh during the second innings.
He also scored his first Test hundred during the first innings of the Boxing Day Test against the Pat Cummins-led side in Melbourne. But his efforts went in vain as the team lost the match by 184 runs.
Reddy has represented India in seven Test matches till now and has scored 343 runs and taken eight wickets. He registered his best bowling figures of 2/32 in this format after bowling in seven overs.
During the ongoing series, he had scored two runs during the second Test match and was still picked for the playing XI of the third Test.
