IPL 2025: Punjab Kings has received a huge boost as star all-rounder Marco Jansen will be coming back to India to play in the rest of the matches for IPL 2025 after it got suspended for seven days owing to tensions between India and Pakistan, as per an ESPNCricinfo report. Besides Jansen, Australia's medium-fast bowler Xavier Bartlett, Azmatullah Omarzai, and Mitchell Owen have also made themselves available for IPL 2025.
But there is still uncertainty about the availability of other foreign players like Marcus Stoinis, Josh Inglis, and Aaron Hardie.
Inglis is part of Australia's WTC final squad, which will be held at the Lord's next month, and this is one of the reasons why he might pull out of IPL 2025.
Jansen, too, is part of South Africa's WTC final squad, and as per the report, the Punjab-based franchise is in discussion as to how long he can play for them.
Even though the foreign players flew home but their coaching staff stayed back in India, which includes their head coach, Ricky Ponting, and the two assistant coaches.
The Shreyas Iyer-led side will begin their training session in Jaiur on Thursday, since it's their new home ground for matches against teams like Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, and Mumbai Indians.
Punjab Kings are lying in third position in the points table as they have scored 15 points after winning 11 matches and were playing their 12th group stage match against DC in Dharamshala last week, when the match was stopped halfway in the first innings.
The IPL 2025 got suspended on May 9 for seven days, and then a ceasefire was signed between India and Pakistan on the next day, and that's how the tournament got resumed.
The IPL shared the revised schedule for the rest of the matches earlier this week. There are 13 group stage matches left to be played, along with four playoffs.
The IPL 2025 will restart from May 17, Saturday, where Royal Challengers Bengaluru will lock horns with Kolkata Knight Riders at the M Chinnaswamy stadium.
The Shreyas Iyer-led side will face the Rajasthan Royals on Sunday in Jaipur.
