Women's ODI World Cup 2025: The ICC is planning to expand the Women's World Cup to 10 teams in the next edition, which will be held in 2029, as has been revealed by the board in its meeting. The Women in Blue had won their first trophy after beating South Africa by 52 runs in Navi Mumbai. The board reiterated its plans for promoting women's cricket post the success of the 2025 Women's World Cup being held in India.
Three lakh fans watched the matches in stadiums, which was a record for women's cricket. The mega event witnessed global viewership as well, where 500 million viewers were just Indians.
With this success, the board has decided to expand this mega event to 10 teams for the next edition.

Both the men's and women's teams will be participating in the LA28 Olympics in the shortest format, where six teams will be seen in action, playing in 28 matches.
Qualification
Since two new teams will be participating in the next edition, it remains to be seen how the ICC will set out the qualification scenario. For the year 2025, India qualified directly as they were the host.
Australia, England, New Zealand, runners-up South Africa, and Sri Lanka were the top five teams in the Women's ODI Championship, which started in 2022 and ended this year.

Teams like Bangladesh and Pakistan qualified by being the table toppers in the World Cup qualifiers. The Windies, who were the semifinalists in 2022, failed to qualify for a World Cup for the first time since 2000 and in the history of this tournament.
Mithali Raj is on the ICC Women’s Cricket Committee
The ICC also made new appointments to the Women's Cricket Committee, which includes Ashley De Silva, former Indian cricketer Mithali Raj, India head coach Amol Muzumdar, Ben Sawyer, Charlotte Edwards, and Sala Stella Siale-Vaea.
