IND-W vs SA-W Women's World Cup Final 2025: Harmanpreet Kaur has said that legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar had called them the night before the summit clash against South Africa. Last week, the Women in Blue won their first ICC title after beating South Africa by 52 runs in Navi Mumbai.

Harmanpreet had become just the third Indian skipper, besides MS Dhoni and Kapil Dev, to have won an ODI World Cup, where Tendulkar gave them some valuable advice based on his own experience. He told the team to slow things down at important stages and that they shouldn't rush things.

“The night before the match, Sachin (Tendulkar) sir called. He shared his experience and asked us to keep our balance. When the game is going fast, just slow it down a little,” Harmanpreet was quoted as saying to the ICC Review.

“Try to control it because when you go too fast, chances are you can stumble. That’s what we need to avoid. I was just thinking of all the advice I was getting from the seniors. To keep control, stay patient, the moment will come, and you will be able to grasp it,” she said.

HARMANPREET PUTS HER HANDS UP

She was in sublime form and had put up important performances in the mega event. She had scored 260 runs after playing in eight matches at an average of 32.50, which also includes two fifties and her highest score of 89.

She had also become the highest run-scorer in knockout matches of this event, as she had scored 331 runs after playing in 4 matches at an average of 110.33 and broke Belinda Clark's tally of 330 runs.

In the semis, she had scored a gritty knock of 89 runs off 88 balls and had built a partnership of 167 runs with Jemimah Rodrigues, which took them across the line.

She had scored just 20 runs off 29 balls in the summit clash, but her leadership skills, like the way she gave the ball to Shafali, worked wonders for them to win their first ICC Women’s World Cup title.
