India vs Namibia, ICC T20 World Cup 2026: Ahead of their upcoming match against Namibia in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2026, the Indian team has got a major boost as the star opener Abhishek Sharma has been discharged from the hospital amid the speculations of his availability. The recent development was confirmed by Tilak Varma on the eve of India's second game in the tournament.
Abhishek, who has been an incredible player for India since making his T20I debut in 2024, was hospitalised with a stomach infection, making him a doubt for Thursday's game at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. He was out for a first-ball duck in India's opening T20 World Cup game against the USA, but didn't take a walk out to the field due to a stomach issue.

Apart from Abhishek, Tilak went on to mention that senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah is available for the Namibia match, but a final call will be taken before the start of the match. As for Abhishek, who was admitted to a hospital in Delhi, he has been discharged and is doing well.
"When we reached Delhi, he (Abhishek) had been examined. He went to the hospital for the examination. So I think he has been discharged today, and he’s doing well. We have got one more day for the game, so hopefully we’ll decide by tomorrow (Thursday) how he feels, and we’ll go with it," Tilak said when asked about an update on Abhishek during the pre-match press conference in Delhi on Wednesday.

Bumrah is also available for tomorrow’s match. But we still have one more day to take a final call on the combination", Tilak added. Notably, Bumrah remained out of the first match against the USA due to illness. Mohammed Siraj replaced him in the lineup and produced a match-winning effort at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. It is to be noted that if Abhishek misses out, then Sanju Samson will open the innings in his place.
