England vs West Indies, ICC T20 World Cup 2026: West Indies defeated England by 30 runs in match 15 of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday, February 11. This was the West Indies' second win in the competition, and they stand at the top of the group C with four points after two matches. Shamar Joseph wrapped things up with Adil Rashid's wicket as England were bowled out for 166 runs in 19 overs.
Sam Curran remained unbeaten at the crease, and his effort of 43 runs in 30 balls went in vain. England were off to a fiery start in the run chase, but the Men in Maroon found a breakthrough in the fourth over of the innings. Romario Shepherd maintained his bowling masterclass and dismissed the dangerous Phil Salt for 30. There were partnerships in the middle, and the England batters got starts, but the West Indies kept bouncing back with wickets at crucial moments.

The likes of Jos Buttler (21), Jacob Bethell (33), and skipper Harry Brook (17) looked promising, but couldn't convert their efforts into big contributions. For the West Indies, Gudakesh Motie was the standout bowler as he took three wickets for 33 runs in his four overs. It was his spell that kept things tight in the middle overs, putting pressure back on England. Roston Chase, who came as the only change in the team, produced an impactful effort of two wickets for 29 runs.

On the other hand, Akeal Hosein, Romario and Shamar found a scalp each. Earlier, the West Indies posted a massive total of 196/6 in their 20 overs after being put into bat first. Sherfane Rutherford played a fiery knock of 76 runs in just 42 balls on the back of two fours and seven sixes, whereas Jason Holder played an outstanding cameo of 33 off just 17 deliveries.
This was the first time England lost a full 20-over T20 International under Harry Brook’s captaincy. With one win and a defeat, England stand third in the Group C points table.
"First of all, I want to thank God for this opportunity, you know, playing in the biggest stage. I think one of the biggest challenges was Adil Rashid. In our meetings, we knew he was going to be the toughest bowler for us. So for me, it was important to try and keep him out of the game, keep rotating the strike, build a partnership, and back ourselves to make up for it at the end," Sherfane Rutherford said after being adjudged as the Player of the Match.
