India vs New Zealand Final, ICC T20 World Cup 2026: India will be up against New Zealand in the final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, March 8. Security has been beefed up for the marquee clash as all roads in Ahmedabad lead to the iconic stadium, with India looking to create history on their home soil. More than 3,000 police personnel, around 1,000 home guards and three anti-drone systems will be deployed as part of a comprehensive security plan to ensure a smooth hosting of the much-awaited IND vs NZ final.
The match is expected to be played in front of a jam-packed crowd at the world's largest cricket stadium. The Men in Blue will be heading into the match on the back of a thrilling 7-run victory over England in the final. Another impressive win will make India the first team to lift the T20 World Cup trophy thrice. They also have a chance to become the first team to defend their T20 WC title and win the elite competition on home soil.

"Tomorrow, a historic T20 World Cup final will be held here at the Narendra Modi Stadium. All preparations have been completed by the police. For the security arrangements, we are deploying over 3,000 police personnel and around 1,000 home guards," Ahmedabad Police Commissioner GS Malik said.
Malik said additional precautionary measures had been introduced this time to prevent overcrowding or any untoward incidents near the stadium gates.

"This time, we have created holding areas near Gate 1 and Gate 2, slightly towards the main road, to prevent any possibility of a stampede. Although such an incident has never occurred here, we have set this up as an extra precaution. We are implementing this for the first time during a match," he said.
To look after the perfect execution of the plans for the high-profile IND vs NZ match, the senior officers will also be stationed. "He added that advanced surveillance and safety systems had also been deployed for the match.
“We are also utilising three anti-drone systems. In addition, eight Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad teams will be deployed. We conducted a rehearsal today regarding the security arrangements," he said.
The police commissioner urged spectators to use public transport to avoid traffic congestion around the stadium. "Use buses or the Metro so that you can reach easily," he said.
Malik said transport services would remain operational late into the night to facilitate spectators’ movement after the match. The police have also made specific arrangements to ensure the safety and convenience of women spectators. "We are deploying female police personnel along with male officers. Frisking of women will be carried out by female personnel, and for men, it will be done by male staff," he said. A joint commissioner of police, 12 deputy commissioners of police (DCPs) and officers of various ranks will be stationed here as part of the security deployment," Malik said.
