ICC T20 World Cup 2026 Stats: The ICC T20 World Cup 2026 is all set to start and will be played in India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8. India will be heading into the tournament as the defending champions, having lifted their second title with a victory over South Africa in the final in 2024. A total of 20 teams will compete, and thrilling action is expected to be witnessed throughout the 55 games.
The tournament will be played across the eight venues in India (5) and Sri Lanka (3). The teams are drawn into four groups of five each, with the first fixture of the tournament scheduled to be played between Pakistan and the Netherlands. Notably, Pakistan will be playing all of their matches in Sri Lanka, but their participation in the tournament still remains uncertain after they announced that the Men in Blue will boycott their match against arch-rivals India on February 15.
Scotland came up as an unexpected participant as they replaced Bangladesh in the tournament. A promising number of big names will be in action in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026. However, the tournament will be played in the absence of stalwarts like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. The duo retired from the shortest format after India's title win in the T20 World Cup 2026. Virat remains an incredible performer in the T20 World Cups, having produced some of the magical moments over the years.
