ICC Test Rankings: Australia have claimed the top spot in the latest update of ICC Test rankings as they surpassed the Indian team to get to first place again.
India witnessed a disadvantage in the rankings after they managed to just draw the two-match Test series 1-1 against South Africa whereas Australia put up impressive performances at home against Pakistan.
They defeated Pakistan in the first two matches of the three-match Test series to regain the crown of the No.1 Test Team once again, having last held the spot briefly following their World Test Championship (WTC) Final victory.

Before this update, India and Australia were tied on rating with 118 each. However, more points in India's bag meant they had their grip around the top spot as they reigned supreme across formats in Men's Team Rankings.
The Rohit Sharma-led side suffered a humiliating defeat against South Africa in the Centurion Test before registering a historic win in Cape Town.
They got the better of the Poteas to register their first-ever Test win at Cape Town. India emerged victorious by seven wickets and wrapped up the game well inside the two days.
Australia have had a monumental year in 2023, having won the World Test Championship final by defeating India and followed it by an ODI World Cup victory.
While India lost the top sport in the current rankings, they are at the top of the World Test Championship points table with 54.16 percentage points from four Test matches with two wins, one defeat, and a draw.

They are followed by South Africa who are placed second with New Zealand standing at the third position and Australia at fourth with each team having 50 percentage points in the WTC table.
The ongoing third Test between Australia and Pakistan in Sydney and the upcoming five-match Test series between India and England will likely witness further activity in the Test Team Rankings.
