ICC Women's ODI World Cup: Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu won the toss and elected to bat against New Zealand in match number 15 of the ICC Women's World Cup here at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Tuesday. Sri Lanka made two changes in their playing XI, bringing in Piumi Wathsala Badalge and Malki Madara. New Zealand made one change, with Bree Illing coming in place of pacer Lea Tahuhu.
"We have to play positive cricket in the middle. This is the biggest stage but we don't want pressure on our shoulders," said Athapaththu, whose side lost to England by 89 runs in the previous match at the same venue.
Colombo Pitch Report: There is 70 per cent humidity in Colombo with low chances of rain. The pitch, which is being used, is completely new, where the dimensions are measured to be down the ground 67 meters, leg-side is 58 meters now, and 63 on the off-side. It is a dry surface but it will assist pacers initially with some swing. Spin will come into play as the game progresses.
