IND A vs AUS A: Shreyas Iyer's woeful form with the bat continued during his comeback match in the first-class format as he could score just runs against Australia A on the third day of the ongoing first unofficial Test match in Lucknow. Corey Rocchiccioli had dismissed India A skipper by LBW after scoring just eight runs.
After suffering a batting collapse, India A were in a commanding position on the back of a brilliant partnership of 181 runs built by Devdutt Padikkal and Dhruv Jurel, who had scored his second first-class hundred. The host began their first innings at 116/1 on the third day and were trailing by 416 runs.
After scoring an unbeaten half-century, Jagadeesan began his 28-run partnership with Sai Sudharsan. Their partnership of 49 runs ended as Jagadeesan edged it to Xavier Bartlett. After his wicket, Devdutt Padikkal came in to bat and built a brilliant partnership with Sudharsan for India A.
Sudharsan scored his seventh first-class fifty, where he played some brilliant shots during his knock. He then stitched a partnership of 76 runs for the third wicket with Padikkal and helped the hosts score more than 200 runs. Sudharsan fell short of his well-deserved eighth first-class hundred as Cooper Connolly took his wicket by lbw.
Skipper Shreyas Iyer failed to fire with his bat as his woeful form continued. With the host at 222/4, Dhruv Jurel came into bat and helped the team bounce back.
Jurel had scored an unbeaten knock of 113 runs in which he had hit ten fours and four sixes, whereas Padikkal had also scored a gritty knock of 86 runs. Their 181-run partnership took them to 403/4, and they were trailing by 129 runs.
