World Athletics Championship 2025: India's young javelin thrower, Sachin Yadav, was at his absolute best during the World Athletics Championship 2025 summit clash on Thursday. Although all the hype surrounded the India-Pakistan clash between Neeraj Chopra and Arshad Nadeem, it was Sachin who had won the Asian clash. The youngster had surpassed both Neeraj and Arshad by throwing at a distance of 86.27m during his first attempt in the summit clash. This was his best attempt as he finished in fourth position.
Who is Sachin Yadav?
Hailing from Khekhra, Sachin was born on 25th October, 1999. He was earlier interested in becoming a pacer, but then switched to javelin throw at the age of 19. He is six feet five inches tall, and his idols are MS Dhoni and star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah.
It should be noted here that Sachin had clinched the silver medal during the 2025 Asian Championship. He had also won the gold medal at the 38th National Games held in Dehradun, where he registered his record-breaking throw of 84.39m, and that was his personal best attempt.
He fell short of a well-deserved podium finish during the first Neeraj Chopra classic event, where he finished in fourth position after throwing at a distance of 82.33m.
Sachin was part of the same group where Neeraj participated in the World Athletics Championship qualifier, where he had a dream run during the summit clash. He threw at a distance of 80.16m in his first attempt and then threw at 83.67m, and was the 10th javelin thrower and made it to the 12-man cut.
