World Athletics Championship 2025: Reigning champion Neeraj Chopra made a surprising exit from the men's javelin summit clash after registering his best throw of 84.03m during the fifth attempt and finished at eighth overall on Thursday. He finished in eighth position after the fourth attempt and then committed a foul during the next attempt.
Just the top six javelin throwers will be seen in action in the sixth and the last round.
Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem, who had clinched the gold medal at the Paris Olympics last year, also exited after the fourth round.

India's another javelin thrower, Sachin Yadav, is still in contention as he finished at fourth position by throwing at a distance of 86.27m.
Neeraj threw at a distance of 83.65m in his first attempt, and then he improved by 0.38m in his second attempt. He then attempted a foul during his third attempt but was able to reach the next round.
During his fourth attempt, he was able to throw at just 82.86m, and then he slipped and committed a foul during his fifth and last attempt, and he finished outside the top two positions for the first time after 26 events.
During qualification, he registered his best throw of 84.85m. Before this tournament, he had finished in second position during the Diamond League Final, where he registered his best throw of 85.01m.
