India vs Afghanistan 3rd T20I: Rohit Sharma-led Indian team created history with a 3-0 series win over Afghanistan after a famous win in the third match at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday, January 17.

India defeated Afghanistan in the Super Over with skipper Rohit Sharma and batter Rinku Singh being the stars whereas Ravi Bishnoi picked up two wickets in the second Super Over.

With this series win, India now have 9 whitewash series wins in T20I cricket - the most by any country in the shortest format of the sport. India were tied at 8 with Pakistan but the victory on Wednesday means that the Rohit Sharma-led side claimed the sensational T20I feat.

The high-scoring contest witnessed two Super Overs before the result of the match emerged in India's favor.

India after batting first posted a massive total of 212/4 in their 20 overs on the back of Rohit Sharma's splendid century and Rinku Singh's incredible fifty.

The duo added 190 runs for the fifth wicket, bailing the team out of trouble when they were struggling for 22/4.

Chasing the target, the visitors managed to equal the score to force out a Super Over with Gulbadin Naib hammering a 23-ball 55 to lead his team's stunning comeback.

Afghanistan batted first in the Suoer Over and scored 16 runs before the hosts too matched the score, taking the match into the second Super Over.

This time India batted first and scored 11 runs before Afghanistan lost two wickets off Ravi Bishnoi to hand over the hosts another victory.

It is to be noted that, the three-match series against Afghanistan was India's final bilateral assignment in the shortest format ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024.

Ahead of the marquee event scheduled to be played in the West Indies and USA, India witnessed some notable performances from Shivam Dube, Rinku Singh, and Yashasvi Jaiswal.

While Rohit was adjudged as the Payer of the Match for his 5th T20I century, Dube was given the Player of the Series award for his all-around performance throughout the three matches.
