IND vs AFG, 2nd T20I: Rohit Sharma created an unwanted record on the day he made his record 150th appearance for India in the T20I format, leading his side to an easy victory.

India defeated Afghanistan by six wickets in the second T20I match at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore on Sunday, January 14.

Rohit jumped down the pitch on the very first ball to smash Fazalhaq Farooqi but missed out on the ball and got his stumps rattled as the hosts were off to a horrible start in the run chase.

It was a 12th golden duck dismissal for Rohit – joint second-most by any batter in the format. The Indian captain is now level with Ireland’s Kevin O’Brien whereas another Irish batter – Paul Sterling – leads the tally with 13.

Making his return to the shortest format after more than a year, Rohit has now two back-to-back disappointing outings with the bat, having been dismissed on the second ball for 0 in the first match in Mohali.

He got run out without opening the account as a mix-up in the middle left him fuming over Shubman Gill.

The Indian skipper had played the ball towards mid-off and left off to attempt a single but Gill was caught ball-watching which was brilliantly saved by Ibrahim Zadran.

Gill didn't leave his ground, resulting in the skipper's dismissal who exchanged a few choice words with the youngster before walking off with a fuming reaction.

After Rohit's dismissal in the second game, Yashasvi Jaiswal took the attack to the Afghan bowlers. Not having featured in the first T20I, the opener collected 68 runs off 34 deliveries.

Also in fine form was Shivam Dube, who continued his remarkable touch with the bat and smashed his second half-century in a row in just 22 deliveries, remaining unbeaten on 63 off 32 balls

Virat Kohli, who also marked his comeback in the T20 side, played a short but entertaining innings for his 29 runs off 16 deliveries as the hosts took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.
