India vs Australia Final, World Cup 2023: Australia skipper Pat Cummins led his team from the front against India in the final of the ODI World Cup 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, November 19.

Cummins provided his team with the biggest breakthrough of the match when he dismissed Virat Kohli in the first innings as he opened up on atmosphere within the team after the massive wicket.

Australia clinched their sixth World Cup title after clinching a six-wicket win over the Men in Blue, shattering the dreams of billions of Indian fans and also giving a heartbreak to the massive crowd present in a jam-packed stadium.

"We took a second in the huddle just to acknowledge the silence that was going around the crowd (after Virat Kohli's wicket)," said Cummins at the post-match press conference.

"I just felt like it was one of those days where it was all made for him (Kohli) to score another hundred like he normally does. That (wicket) was satisfying," Cummins added.

Kohli looked brilliant with the bat once again in the summit clash as he scored a half-century but failed to convert it into a big one as he was dismissed for 54 rus by Cummins.

India had a brilliant start to their innings despite Shubman Gill's early wicket after they were put into bat first. Skipper Rohit Sharma once again played a fiery knock of 47 runs before getting dismissed by Glenn Maxwell.

Shreyas Iyer was the next batter to depart whose dismissal put India in a spot of bother.

Kohli was then joined by KL Rahul as the duo bailed the team out of trouble but couldn't help the run rate as boundaries were not coming and they were finding difficulties in picking up the gaps as well for singles and doubles.

Kohli continued his consistency and scored his sixth half-century of the tournament before his dismissal in the 29th over.

His wicket saw the Narendra Modi Stadium witness a pin-drop silence as he departed at the crucial juncture of the match.

Interestingly, Cummins mentioned how keen was his team to silence the massive crowd and he lived up to his plans with Australia putting up a stellar performance with the ball.

"The crowd is obviously going to be very one-sided; but in sport, there's nothing more satisfying than hearing a big crowd go silent and that's the aim for us,” he had said ahead of the final.
