IND vs AUS ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Semifinal: Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was seen struggling and was also trying to hide his emotions with a sarcastic smile and was involved in a hilarious banter with head coach Gautam Gambhir as rubbing the green didn't work in his favor during the toss of the first semifinal. Steve Smith made the right decision as Rohit flicked the coin in Dubai on Tuesday and it turned out to be heads.

Since Australia chose to bat first on a slow surface, Rohit Sharma had lost the toss for the 11th time in the 50-over format and this trend started when both the teams last played against each other during the 2023 ODI World Cup final.

Brian Lara has the record of losing the most tosses in the 50-over format, i.e., 12 and this began from October 1998 to March 1999. Netherlands' Peter Borren of teh has the record of losing 11 consecutive tosses and Rohit has just achieved that milestone.

The Steve Smith-led side had an upper edge as they chose to bat first on a surface, which would become slower and slower.

Skipper Rohit Sharma dismissed the advantage of winning the toss and reckoned that they were prepared for both results.

"I was prepared to do both. When you're in two minds, it's better to lose the toss. We've played three games here and each time it had something different in it. You can't say this is how the pitch is going to play. The pitch keeps changing its nature. At the end of the day, you have to play good cricket and that's what we are focused on. We've played good cricket in all three games and that's what we'll look to do now," Rohit was heard saying at the time of the toss.

But the fans went berserk on social media and started a meme fest:

At the same time, the Steve Smith-led side too included a spin-heavy playing XI as they brought in Tanveer Sangha and Cooper Connolly, who would help Adam Zampa. They have included seven spinners in their playing XI which also includes Travis Head, Glenn Maxwell, and Marnus Labuschagne.

The Men in Blue fielded an unchanged playing XI, which meant that Varun Chakravarthy didn't lose his spot, owing to his brilliant five-for against New Zealand a few days ago.
