India vs Bangladesh Chennai Test: Bangladesh veteran Tamim Iqbal reserved ultimate praise for India's Chennai Test hero Ravichandran Ashwin and said the star all-rounder's contribution to Team India is as big as batting stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

Ashwin played a crucial role for India on day one as he rescued his team from 144/6 with a stunning century followed by a remarkable six-wicket haul on Day 4, helping hosts secure a ruthless 280-run triumph over Bangladesh in 1st Test.

After Ashwin's match-winning performance, Iqbal lauded the star India all-rounder, labelling him as important as Virat and Rohit in Team India.

“That was brilliant what he did, he was batting like a proper batter. I come from a different country. What I always hear is Virat Kohlis and Rohit Sharmas but Ravichandran Ashwin is equally important in my eyes. Because we only talk about when they do well, when they get the hundreds, they get five six wickets. But their contribution to this Indian team is immense. It’s as big as Rohit as big as Virat Kohli,” said Tamim Iqbal on Jio Cinema.

Ashwin's exceptional figure of 6/88 on Day 4 of the first Test took him to a historic milestone of 750 wickets in international cricket. With this feat, he joined the elite list of spinners including Muthiah Muralidaran, Shane Warne, and Anil Kumble.

This also elevated him to the 8th spot among the all-time Test wicket-takers, topping Courtney Walsh's 519 wickets as the Indian now has 522 scalps in international red-ball cricket.
