IND vs BAN: India star opener Shubman Gill will eye to achieve a big milestone against Bangladesh in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 World Cup match at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Thursday.
Gill returned for the clash against Pakistan in the last match after recovering from dengue fever which ruled him out of the fixtures against Australia and Afghanistan. The opening batter scored 16 runs against Pakistan but he will look to better his outing against Bangladesh.
The 24-year-old will create history if he scores 67 runs against Bangladesh to become the fastest batter to score 2000 ODI runs.

Currently, former South Africa opener Hasi Amla holds the record of scoring fastest 2000 ODI runs in 40 innings. In 36 ODI innings, Gill has so far scored 1933 runs including seven hundred and nine fifties at a thundering average of 64.43. The batter also holds the record of scoring double hundred in ODI cricket, becoming the 12th cricketer to reach the landmark figure.
On the eve of the clash against Bangladesh, India bowling coach Paras Mhambrey made it clear that India is unlikely to tweak their winning combination which will keep Mohammed Shami and Ravichandran Ashwin on the bench for the match.

"Right now, there is no discussion of rotation from our point of view. We want to carry this momentum to the next game as well. Sometimes you will miss out, someone like him is missing out, someone like Ash (Ravichandran Ashwin) will miss out, and I think that is the communication we had with him, and we were very clear," PTI quoted Mhambrey as saying.
India are unbeaten in the tournament with successive wins over Australia, Afghanistan and Pakistan respectively. Men in Blue are currently on the second spot in the standings with six points while New Zealand hold the top place with eight points in four games.
