India vs England 5th Test: Shubman Gill put up a remarkable display of batting against England on the second day of the fifth Test at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on Friday, March 8.

Gill was a proud man after scoring a magnificent century to help his team extend their dominance in the match as the young batter hoped that his father, who was present in the stands, would be equally proud of him.

“It was my first time that he’s (talking about his dad) watching me play (in an international game). It was his vision (to play Test cricket) and I’m hoping that he is proud of my effort today,” Gill said after the end of Day 2.

Gill was dismissed by James Anderson who is now just one wicket away from the 700-wicket mark.

Before getting dismissed, Gill had smashed the veteran for a six in only the fourth over of the day and then revealed his strategy to put pressure on Anderson, also adding that he has no regrets of missing out on a big score.

“I thought the ball wasn’t doing much at that time and instinctively I wanted to go over the top (talking about the six he hit against Anderson) and put some pressure on him. I feel good every time I go out to bat and today I missed out on that ball (the one he got dismissed). I didn’t sight that ball properly, but I do feel good every time I go out to bat and hopefully, I convert these starts into a big one.”

In another instance that took place on the second day, Gill and Anderson were seen having a chat after the batter smashed the bowler for a six.

On being asked about the chat, Gill refused to go into the details and said that it should be kept private.

“I think it would be better for both of us to keep that chat between us," said Gill.
