India vs England 5th Test: The Oval Test hero Mohammed Siraj said he missed the presence of the pace ace Jasprit Bumrah during the Oval Test against England and claimed that "I believe in Jassi bhai and myself."

With Bumrah rested for the fifth and final Test of the series and released from the squad mid-series, Siraj stepped up, taking the spearheading charge to lead the pace attack.

In the last Test alone, the 31-year-old reaped nine wickets, including a match-saving five-wicket haul in the second innings that scripted a heroic comeback for India to secure a six-run win.

Earlier this year, when India lifted the T20 World Cup, Siraj famously said the line 'I believe in Jassi bhai' and now the fans are saying the same line for him.

In a video posted by BCCI on their social media handles, Siraj said that Bumrah would have brought a distinct presence to the match.

"Every batsman, every bowler, the whole team — the way we made a comeback, it’s crazy, man. Love it. I’ll miss Jassi bhai (Jasprit Bumrah), because if he was here, it would’ve been a different presence altogether," Siraj said in a video posted by BCCI.

"Yeah exactly — I believe in Jassi bhai and in myself," said Siraj.

The redemption arc in the fifth Test for Siraj was at its absolute best as the pacer bounced back on Day 5 after dropping a catch of Harry Brook, who went on to slam a century, when he was batting on 19. The pacer reflected on the missed opportunity, but now it seems like it was all the plan of the Almighty.

"To be honest, I can't really describe what I'm feeling right now. Yesterday, when I dropped that catch... even last night, that one catch kept playing in my mind — like, how could I miss that? If I had taken it, we wouldn't be here today; we’d be relaxing in our rooms. But I guess the Almighty had something else planned, something good — that’s why we’re here today, and you can see the result for yourself," said Siraj.
