IND vs ENG T20 World Cup 2026 Semifinal: India skipper Suryakumar Yadav said he got really nervous after the thrilling seven-run win against England in the semifinal of the ongoing mega event in Mumbai on Thursday. While batting first, the Men in Blue posted the highest total in T20 World Cup semifinal history. They scored 253 runs.

Sanju Samson again led India's batting attack by scoring 89 runs off 42 balls. He hit eight fours and seven sixes. While chasing, the Harry Brook-led side gave the hosts a nervy scare. They almost chased the mammoth target, scoring 246 runs in 20 overs. Jacob Bethell played a brilliant knock of 105 runs off 48 balls, hitting eight fours and seven sixes.

After India's close win, Suryakumar admitted he became nervous during the second innings. He also had an on-field banter with Harry Brook during the chase. He asked how many runs they needed to score to win the match.

“Oh my God, I just told Harry, how many more do we need to score against you guys? At the end of the day, it was a good wicket. The way they batted was excellent. I don’t want to take any credit away from them. I think they were always in the game and in the chase. The way Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and all the other bowlers pulled the game back was unbelievable,” Suryakumar told broadcasters during the post-match presentation.

He also revealed that his heart rate rose significantly during England's chase. He breathed a sigh of relief after they qualified for the summit clash.

“Very nervous. If someone had checked my heart rate, it would have been easily 160 or 175, plus. But it’s part of the game. It was a wonderful match and a wonderful semi-final. All that is behind us now. We are very happy to go into the final,” he concluded.

How did India make a comeback in the match?

The Harry Brook-led side dominated their run chase in the middle overs. This was thanks to a brilliant partnership between Jacob Bethell and Will Jacks for the fifth wicket.

Then India's star all-rounder Axar Patel took a brilliant catch on the boundary during the 14th over. This helped the team bounce back and qualify for the summit clash. India will face New Zealand in the summit clash on Sunday in Ahmedabad.
