IND vs NED T20 World Cup 2026: Mohammad Amir, who had called India's star opener Abhishek Sharma a slogger, has warned the Men in Blue yet again due to his poor form in the ongoing mega event. Amir, before the high-octane clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan, had revealed that Abhishek tries to slog the ball and also said that he doesn't know how to defend it.

Till now, Abhishek has had a forgetful outing in this tournament as he hasn't scored a single run yet. He has registered five ducks in the last seven innings and has scored 182 runs after playing in eight matches at an average of 26 and a strike rate of 224.69.

During an interaction on Geo News, Amir compared Abhishek to Saim Ayub when he had arrived on the world stage, and that his offside had led to his downfall. At the same time, the ex-cricketer also revealed that Abhishek tries to slog every ball, and if he doesn't work on it, then he will be exposed in international cricket.

"Saim [Ayub] had the same issue when he started in the PSL a few years back. He was new and was hitting no-look shots. Nobody knew his weakness because most of his shots were on the leg side. Now, if you bowl on the third or fourth stump line, he struggles to decide. Even in his last two matches, he was dismissed playing on the offside. Unless he improves his offside game, he cannot progress. Strong bowlers will always test your weakness and push you out of your comfort zone," Mohammad Amir was quoted as saying on Geo News.

"It is the same for Abhishek. He wants every ball in the slot so he can hit it. But at the highest level, or in ODIs, har ball lapete mein nahi le sakte (you cannot slog every ball in pressure cricket). Salman Agha and Aryan Dutt got him out in a similar fashion. International cricket will expose you," he added.

After getting out on a duck against the Scott Edwards-led side, Abhishek had created a record of becoming the Indian batter to register the most ducks in the history of this tournament. He has the joint-second highest number of ducks this year. The Suryakumar Yadav-led side will lock horns with South Africa in their first Super 8 match on Sunday.
