IND vs NZ: In the breathtaking setting of the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala, an unusual interruption marred the group match between India and New Zealand. Play came to a halt due to foggy conditions, creating a surreal atmosphere in this iconic stadium, often lauded as one of the world's most picturesque venues.
During the 16th over of the match, bowled by Lockie Ferguson, weather conditions deteriorated significantly. Low-hanging clouds and mist descended upon the entire ground, leading to displeasure among New Zealand players. Eventually, the game had to be stopped due to "Inclement Weather," and the players left the field. After a 15-minute break, the match resumed.
Amid the unexpected foggy interruption, fans found a touch of humour and appreciation. Netizens swiftly hopped onto the internet to share their reactions to add their own touch of wit and commentary. Some could not resist taking a lighthearted dig at the outfield, while others celebrated the ground's breathtaking scenery.

One fan playfully suggested that the fog might have drifted in from Kasol, a stunning district in Himachal Pradesh. Meanwhile, some humorously referenced a television advertisement that could explain the fog's sudden appearance. On the other hand, Pakistani cricket enthusiasts closely observed the events, deeming the outfield subpar and calling for the ICC to address the issue.

Dharamsala is beautiful place but its not the place for cricket because not a good outfield plus the weather conditions 🫥#INDvsNZ #CWC2023 #INDvNZ pic.twitter.com/xv2WohpwRT
Earlier in the day, India won the toss and chose to field in the swinging conditions. New Zealand managed to post a total of 273 runs, primarily thanks to Daryl Mitchell's fifth ODI century. Mohammed Shami was the standout bowler for India, securing a five-wicket haul in his first match of the ODI World Cup 2023.

Besides the weather interruption, the inadequate condition of the HPCA stadium's outfield drew attention. Several Indian players refrained from sliding to avoid potential injuries, echoing concerns raised by England's captain Jos Buttler, who described the outfield as "poor." This issue has persisted, and even Afghanistan's coach, Jonathan Trott, expressed dissatisfaction with the outfield during their match against Bangladesh.
Weather-induced interruptions and average outfield, while part and parcel of the game, can be particularly frustrating in limited-overs cricket.
